Wiring Rules

Use the Wiring Rule window to create and edit a library of wiring rules.

Name

Specifies the display name of a new wiring rule.

Description

Specifies a description of a the wiring rule. Optional.

Use parent as ‘From’

Sets the wiring rule to use the parent equipment and the "from" equipment rather than the "to" equipment.

Preview area

The preview area specifies the equipment and cables of the wiring rule.

It initially displays a picture of some cable and wires. It updates to display a representation of the wiring rule equipment and cables are specified.

Primary equipment +

Displays the Primary equipment window, used to add primary equipment to the wiring rule.

When primary equipment (and its terminal arrangement) is added, the preview on the Wiring Rule window is updated accordingly:

Secondary equipment +

Displays the Secondary equipment window, used to add secondary equipment to the wiring rule.

When secondary equipment is added, the preview on the Wiring Rule window is updated to include it:

Cable +

Displays the Cable window, used to select a cables to link primary and secondary equipment.

When a cable is added to the wiring rule, the preview on the Wiring Rule window is updated to include it:

Terminals and From/To Cable Ends on the Preview

Used to link equipment terminals to cable ends by clicking on one and dragging to other so that both are highlighted. For example:

This displays the Available Cores to Connect window, used to select the cable cores that connect a cable to an equipment terminal.

The preview on the Wiring Rule window is updates to include connections between terminals and cables:

Tied back cores are depicted as follows:

Remove -

Removes a cable selected in the preview window from the wiring rule, including any terminal connections.

Other Preview right-click menu options

These options are displayed if the window is right-clicked any where except on a cable of cable core terminal connection. They perform the same functions as the controls along the top of the preview area.
