Binding mismatch

  • Last UpdatedJan 13, 2022

Error description

To successfully complete a communication the client and the target service must use the same binding

The example below is a netTCP binding client trying to connect to a HTTP binding Service:

Solution

The user must modify the configuration files so that the client and service communicate using the same binding. Refer to WCF Configuration Files.

Note:
An ‘AddressAlreadyInUseException’ will still be reported if there any other services running which use the selected port or if the Net.Tcp Port Sharing service is not running.

This will be displayed as:

net.tcp://localhost:8000/45fbd9e7-5970-43a3-b8ea-59f489e1d144/GlobalWcfServiceLib/GlobalWcfService_11_1_201011/

AddressAlreadyInUseException exp

The TransportManager failed to listen on the supplied URI using the NetTcpPortSharing service: the service failed to listen.

If this error occurs when the Net.Tcp port-sharing service is running, it may be necessary to use a port other than the default setting of 8000.

A system tool such as ‘netstat-aon’ can help identify the ports in use for TCP - this must be run with administrative privileges.
