AVEVA™ Engineering

Modify Area (Streams)

  • Last UpdatedMar 07, 2025
  • 2 minute read

If you drag&drop an additional item onto a stream, the item automatically splits the stream, so that the item is included in the stream.

Note: Reverse flow is not considered as part of the design.

The Drag and Drop does not create two streams out of it. To modify the stream you can use the Split Upstream or Split Downstream functions.

Base Engineering Vocabulary for Split Streams

The base engineering uses following vocabulary:

Inline Item

Is the base engineering vocabulary class.

Associated To Connector

Holds the reference of the Connector item (like Cable, Pipeline, Stream). This has range class Connector.

Inline Sequence

Holds the sequence of the inline item.

The following image displays how these attributes are used. Inline-A, Inline-B are inline items.

Note: For more information, see Split Stream by Inline Item and Delete Inline Item in Stream for examples based on the PFD drawings. The concept remains the same for the split and heal functionality on AVEVA Electrical, AVEVA Instrumentation and AVEVA P&ID drawings.

Note: If the dropped item is not an inline item (not having Inline Item decoration) automatic split and heal will not apply. User must manually make the connections.
