Modify Connectors

  • Last UpdatedNov 24, 2025

A connector can be modified using grip points and additional grip points.

A connector can be modified using the Graphic Properties window.

Connector vertices can be modified using the Vertex Editor window. Text can be associated with each connector vertex.

Text

Input a value in the field to define the content for the connector text.

Click to add intelligent text.

Note:
The connector has a DEXREF attribute which holds a reference to an external element. The intelligent text is evaluated against this external element if it is valid. There are two pseudo attributes on the connector CONSRF and CONERF, these hold the DEXREF of the symbols at the start and end of the connector respectively. The FROM command can be used to extract data about the DEXREF, CONSRF and CONERF (for example, #BORE<FR DEXREF>). There is a limitation on the intelligent text, it is not possible to travel the hierarchy from the DEXREF, CONSRF or CONERF. This means that while it is possible to display the owner of the DEXREF element, it is not possible to display any further information about the OWNER.

Text Offset

Input a value in the field or select from the drop-down list to define the text offset from the center of the connector along the X axis and the Y axis.

Text Colour

Select from the drop-down list to define the color of the connector text. Alternatively, enter an RGB color using the format R 100 G 200 B 255.

Alignment

Select Base from the drop-down list to align the bottom of the connector text with the connector.

Select BBody from the drop-down list to align the connector text above the connector.

Font oblique angle

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the text font oblique angle from the visual style.

Input a value in the field or select from the drop-down list to define the oblique angle for the text.

A negative value positions the oblique angle to the left. A positive value positions the oblique angle to the right.

Text segment

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector text position from the visual style.

Select Start from the drop-down list to position connector text adjacent to the first connector segment.

Select Centre from the drop-down list to position connector text adjacent to the center connector segment.

Justification

Select Left from the drop-down list to left justify the connector text.

Select Right from the drop-down list to right justify the connector text.

Select Centre from the drop-down list to center justify the connector text.

Char height

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector text character height from the visual style.

Input a value in the field or select from the drop-down list to define the character height for the connector text.

Character spacing

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector text character spacing from the visual style.

Input a value in the field or select from the drop-down list to define the character spacing for the connector text.

Line spacing

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector text line spacing from the visual style.

Rotation angle

Input a value in the field to define the rotation angle for the connector text.

Chamfer to previous

Input a value in the field to define the chamfer distance for the previous vertex point.

Chamfer to next

Input a value in the field to define the chamfer distance for the next vertex point.

Marker glyph

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector marker display settings from the visual style.

Select an image from the gallery to modify the connector marker display settings. A marker is positioned at each connector vertex point.

Marker Colour

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector marker color settings from the visual style.

Select a color from the drop-down list to modify the connector marker color. Alternatively, enter an RGB color using the format R 100 G 200 B 255.

Marker size

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector marker size from the visual style.

Input a value in the field or select a size to modify the size of the connector marker.

Is major

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector jump settings from the visual style.

Select Yes from the drop-down list to define the connector as dominant. A jump is not applied to the connector at connector intersections.

Select No from the drop-down list to define the connector as subordinate. A jump is applied to the connector at connector intersections.

Jumping glyph

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector jump display settings from the visual style. The default jump display is indicated with a gap.

Select an image from the gallery to modify the connector jump display settings.

Jumping size

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector jump size from the visual style.

Input a value in the field or select a size to modify the size of the connector jump.

Symbol Jumping mode

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the jumping mode from the visual style.

Select On from the drop-down list to jump the connector over symbols that it crosses.

Select Off from the drop-down list to pass the connector through symbols that it crosses.

Select Independent Only from the drop-down list to jump the connector over symbols that it crosses, but only when the connector and symbol are not connected.

In the Vertex Editor, the By Owner option is available. It inherits the symbol jumping mode from the owning connector.

Show add vertex grips

Select Yes from the drop-down list to display vertex grips on the drawing canvas when the connector as selected.

Select No from the drop-down list to remove vertex grips from the drawing canvas display when the connector as selected.

Flow

Select By Style from the drop-down list to inherit the connector flow direction from the visual style.

Select None from the drop-down list to modify the connector flow direction to no direction.

Select Forward from the drop-down list to modify the connector flow direction to forwards.

Select Back from the drop-down list to modify the connector flow direction to backwards.

The flow setting is created for use with asymmetric line styles or glyphs

Blanking

Blanking functionality is not available in the application.
