View Rules Feedback Messages

After rules are executed in the Rules window (see Run Rules for further information), the messages generated as a result of this are added to the Rules Feedback window, which is then automatically displayed.

Messages produced from multiple rule runs are displayed in this window. New messages are added each time a rule is executed.

You can also access the window at any time by using one of the following methods:

• From the Rules window, select Feedback.

  

• From the Drawings tab, in the Rules group, select Rules then Feedback to display the window.

  

The columns in the window provide the following detailed information:

• Severity – the severity of the message, as set in the rule definition (Error, Warning or Informative).

• Message – the message text set in the rule definition.

• Element – the element that the message refers to.

• Drawing – the name of the drawing that contains the element.

• Rule – the name of the rule the feedback is for.

• Date – the data and time of the rule execution.

You can filter and sort messages in the same way as any other grid. You can also hide columns using the context menu Show columns command as explained in the context menu options.

Right-click context menu options

The following commands are available from the context menu of the Rules Feedback window, accessible by right-clicking on the grid:

• Navigate to – navigates, zooms and selects the element(s) associated with the currently selected message(s). If a drawing that includes the elements(s) is closed, it opens automatically.

• Highlight - highlights the element(s) related to currently selected message(s). This option is only available if the relevant drawing is open.

• Open related rule – opens the Rules window if it is currently closed, and selects the rule that produced the message. If multiple messages are selected, they must all have been produced by the same rule for this option to function.

• Copy – copies the currently selected messages

• Export to Excel – exports messages to Excel.

• Clear grid – clears all messages in the Rules Feedback grid.

• Highlight color – enables you to select colors for highlighting message-related items on a drawing.

• Show columns – enables you to choose which are columns are displayed in the Rules Feedback grid.
