Flange Gaps

Sets the default flange gaps for framework supports.

The flange gaps functionality is only available when a support is created using the Build By Cursor method. Refer to Framework Tab for further information.

• ID 1 is the first member identified.

• ID 2 is the second member identified (if applicable).

  • You can configure each ID independently using the available flange position options (Off, Inside, or Outside).

• Geometry: Positions the framework legs relative to the identified sections, or gensecs geometry

• Origin: Positions the framework legs relative to the sections, or gensecs origin.

• Gap: The gap is the distance (3) measured parallel to the vertical support leg (2) and the end of the supporting element (1):

  

• Overlap: The overlap is the distance (3) measured along the length of the vertical support leg (2) and the bottom of the supporting element (1):

  

• Mirror and Reposition: Enables supports to be repositioned from the Support Editor while preserving their existing Gap and Overlap values. See Orientate for more information on available repositioning options.

Examples

Note: Significant differences between ID 1 and ID 2 are applied to the structures that display in the examples. The positioning of the framework legs are used with either the identified sections or gensecs geometry or the sections or gensecs origin.

The example displays the effect of selecting the members when both flanges are set to off (ID1 = Off, ID2 = Off).

The example displays the effect of selecting the left member first (ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Outside). ID1 and ID2 have the same settings.

The example displays the effect of selecting the right member first (ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Outside). ID1 and ID2 have the same settings.

The example displays the effect of selecting the left member first (ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Off). ID1 and ID2 have the same settings.
