Line Style Unique Identifier

  • Last UpdatedNov 26, 2025

User defined line styles have an internal identifier assigned by the system. The identifier is a combination of the LSTYNO and the database number in which the style is stored. The combined identifier ensures that the line style id is unique. The combined identifier is only used internally by Draw and is not normally visible to the user.

Line styles must always be referenced using a unique name assigned to the line style (NLSTYLE). Using the LSTYNO identifier is not recommended because, on its own, it is not guaranteed to be unique.

You must ensure that the style names assigned to user defined line styles are unique across the project to ensure that the correct line style can be referenced.

Note:
Style id uniqueness also applies to user-defined fill styles and glyphs.
