Description |

Plane |
Divides a polyface surface into multiple faces by given planes. Define a plane with absolute coordinates in X, Y or Z plane. |

Rectangle |
Divides a polyface surface by a rectangle, creating an inner loop face. Select a surface and then a face on the selected surface. The next step is to define the rectangle, within the selected face, by supplying two points. |

Polyline |
Divides a polyface surface by a polyline or by polygon. Select a surface and then a face on the selected surface. The next step is to define the polyline, within the selected face, by supplying node points of the polyline. The final shape of the polyline shall divide the polyface into faces. Select the Polygon and Extend options from the arrow- down options while using the Divide by Polyline function.

Divide a surface along the Y axis

On the Common Reference tab, in the Modify Surface group, select Divide.

In the 3D view, select the planar or polyface surface you want to divide.
Note: Dividing a planar surface automatically converts it to polyface.
By default, the application prompts you to select locations to divide along the Y axis.

Select the location(s) on the surface you wish to divide, or press the down arrow for more options:

Press Enter to accept.
The application divides the surface into sections:
You are now able to manipulate each section by selecting and dragging grips:
This allows you to create more complex shapes, such as bending or knuckle forms:
