Create and Modify Hatch Rules

Select the Hatch Rules tab to display the current user-defined hatching styles for the drawing.

Hatching Styles
The Hatching Styles part of the Representation and Hatch Rules window allows you to add and remove hatching styles.

Add |
Click to create a hatching style. A new hatching style with a default name and attributes is created and added to the list of available hatching styles. |

Remove |
Click to delete the currently selected hatching style. |
To modify the currently selected hatching style, you can modify the attributes that display in the lower sections of the Representation and Hatch Rules window.
Hatching Colour and Style
The Hatching Colour and Style part of the Representation and Hatch Rules window allows you to select the line styles, colours and fills for the currently selected hatching style.

Click to display the colour, fill and line style drop-down lists for a line type. |

Click to minimize the colour, fill and line style drop-down lists for a line type. |
You can select a colour, fill and line style from the drop-down lists for each available hatching style. Alternatively, enter an RGB color using the format R 100 G 200 B 255.
Hatching Rules
The Hatching Rules part of the Representation and Hatch Rules window allows you to define the items to which hatching styles apply.

You can define the element surfaces to be considered for hatching.

Only Sectioned Surfaces |
Select the option button to apply hatching only to surfaces cut by a section plane. |

All Primitive Surfaces |
Select the option button to apply hatching to all surfaces, the element need not be cut by a section plane. |
You can define the surface direction of elements to be considered for hatching. The element to be hatched must also meet the criteria defined using the option buttons in the Consider part of the window.

All Surfaces in All Directions |
Select the option button to apply hatching to all element surfaces |

Only Surfaces Perpendicular to the View Direction |
Select the option button to apply hatching only to surfaces perpendicular to the view direction. For example, if the view direction is north then the south face of the element is hatched. |

Only Surfaces Facing in a Specified Direction |
Select the option button to apply hatching to surfaces using a specified direction, instead of using the view direction. The Direction and Derived option buttons become active. For example, if six surfaces of a box are required to have different hatching styles then six hatching rules are applied. |

Direction |
Input a value in the field to apply hatching to surfaces matching the specified direction. For example, Input N in the field to apply hatching to surfaces in the North direction. |

Derived |
Click to define the object to associate with the Direction hatching using a cursor pick. You are prompted to Select design item Click to identify the design element. |
Hatch Flags
The Hatch Flags part of the Representation and Hatch Rules window allows you to define hatching for pipe and HVAC duct cross-sections.

Piping Symbols |
Select the check box to apply hatching to the cross-section of a pipe or HVAC duct with a pipe end symbol or duct end symbol. De-select the check box to apply hatching to the full cross-section of a pipe or HVAC duct. |
To apply the currently selected hatching style to design items, click Select Items.
You are prompted to Select design item

Click to identify the required items.
Note:
You can click to deselect a selected item.
When all required items have been selected, press Enter. The selected hatching style is then applied to the items.
To apply the currently selected hatching style to design items and to their significant owners, click Select Owners.
You are then prompted to Select design owner

Click to identify the required items.
Note:
You can click to deselect a selected item.
When all the required items have been selected, press Enter. The selected representation style is then applied to the items and their owners.
