Hierarchy

The catalogue contains a separate CATA element for joints.

The hierarchy for joints is divided into joint groups, for example, similar joint types are grouped together in an STSE element.

Each STSE element owns one or more STCA element, one for each joint type.

Each STCA element owns all the elements that define the joint, for example, JOIN, GMSE, NGMS, PTSS, PTSE and DTSE.

The joint groups and sub-types are:

Beam to Beam Joints

  • Equal size beams

  • Small beams to large beams

  • Large beams to small beams

Beam to Column Joints

  • Beam to column web

  • Beam to column flange

Splice Joints

  • Equal sections

  • Unequal sections

Bracing Joints

  • Bolted connections

  • Welded connections

Baseplates

  • Rectangular

  • Circular
