The section notes the warnings that can occur when running Import-DGN (Basic facilities). Further information is provided with some of the warnings.
Depending on the warning, the user is advised to try to correct the inconsistencies in the DGN model and rerun Import-DGN. Import-DGN continues running when a warning is issued, but the object that generated the warning is not exported.
Most of the expected warnings are produced on ill-defined faces:
-
A face has been defined with duplicate points
-
A line in a face intersects or touches another line or point in the same face
-
A face defined as a number of points makes a single line, and therefore is not a correct face.
The following warnings may occur in the above category:
-
Straight line found
-
External Boundary 'n' degenerate
-
External Boundary 'n' self intersecting
-
External Boundary 'n' self touching
-
Gap in loop of projected surface or surface of revolution
-
Hole Boundary 'n' is degenerate
-
Hole Boundary 'n' self intersecting
-
Hole Boundary 'n' self touching
-
Hole is degenerate
-
Start and End Coordinates do not match
-
Shape forced onto a plane.
The following warnings may occur when certain complex elements are incomplete, or are not defined in the conventional manner:
-
No rules found for capped surface or surface
-
No boundaries found for capped surface or surface
-
The capped surface or surface has not the same number of boundary records or is ill defined
-
Nested Complex Shape found (but accepted).
Other warnings are produced when some special cases have not been implemented in this version of Import-DGN (Basic facilities):
-
B-spline type found, not implemented
-
Not implemented solid/surface type 'n'
-
A planar solid has been found that has not been implemented
-
Not implemented surface type 'n'
-
Not implemented Volume Boundaries Type
-
Not implemented Surface Boundaries Type
-
Cell Library Type Not Implemented
-
Line Type Not Implemented
-
Text Node Type Not Implemented
-
Complex String Type Not Implemented
-
Text Type Not Implemented
-
Point String Type Not Implemented
-
B-Spline Type Not Implemented
-
Shared Cell Definition Type Not Implemented
-
Shared Cell Instance Type Not Implemented
-
Group Data Not Implemented.
Warnings are produced when there is something wrong with the construction of the model:
-
The hole does not follow an external boundary
-
The construction of the element has not been implemented
-
Invalid type found, type = 'n'
-
Two shapes in projected or surface of revolution do not have the same number of vertices
-
A solid was found in a hole surface
-
The construction cannot produce a primitive
-
The following hole plane is not on the same plane.
Finally, warnings are produced when Import-DGN (Basic facilities) is used in an invalid manner:
-
A file for output has not been defined
-
The millimeter factor has not been set
