Export Idealized Model

The SAI creates an idealized model of the structural elements to be sent to Staad Pro for analysis. The STD file is then created from the idealized model.

  1. On the Interfaces tab, in the Structures group, click Analysis Interface and select SAI Export from the drop-down menu to display the Source part of the SAI Export Form window.

  2. Select CE from the Source drop-down list.

  3. Individually select each of the FRMW elements to be exported in the Model Explorer and click to add them to the element list.

  4. Click Go to Next Step to display the Integrity part of the SAI Export Form window.

    In the sample project, there are some GENSEC elements not properly connected, and some PANE elements with unset material mapping.

    The reported errors can safely be ignored for this procedure.

  5. Select the Accept Data Integrity Warnings/Errors check box.

  6. Click Go to Next Step to display the Destination part of the SAI Export Form window.

  7. Input the file path and file name for the exported STD file. For example:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\AVEVA\USERDATA\SAIFiles\outfrome3d.std

  8. Input the name for the idealized model and click ADD CE. For example:

    EQUIP_SUPPORT_IM

  9. Click Yes on the Confirm window to create the ISTRU element in the Model Explorer.

  10. Click Go to Next Step to display the Settings part of the SAI Export Form window.

  11. Populate the Settings part of the SAI Export Form window as indicated.

  12. Click Go to Next Step to display the Export Options part of the SAI Export Form window.

  13. Select the Continue with export check box.

  14. Click Create Idealized Model.

  15. Click No on the Confirm window. There are errors in the idealized model which need to be fixed before the export file is created.

    The bottom part of the SAI Export Form window becomes active.

  16. Remove the EQUIP_SUPPORT STRU element from the 3D view.

  17. Add the EQUIP_SUPPORT_IM-EXPORT-REV-0 ISTRUR element to the 3D view.

  18. The idealized model contains IPANE elements with more than four INODE elements. The detected errors display on the Export Options part of the SAI Export Form window.

    The IPANE elements with detected errors must be split into three or four INODE elements.

    Click Split IPANE and split each of the IPANE elements as indicated.

  19. Click Export Idealized Model to create the export file.
