Pseudo Attributes in Rules

Dynamic Rules

Dynamic rules only work dynamically when using direct attributes.

For example, if the following naming rule is set on a GENSEC element:

rule set name dynamic ('/' + STRUCLASS + '/01' + NAME OF FRMW)

The following name change is automatically applied.

If the FRWM name is subsequently modified, the GENSEC name is dynamically changed.

If a pseudo attribute is used, for example:

rule set name dynamic ('/' + STRUCLASS + '/01/' + NAMN OF FRMW)

The following warning appears on the command line:

Warning- cannot create dynamic link between rule on GENSEC /BRACING/01/ROW_P1.AXX attribute NAME and attribute NAMN on FRMWORK /ROW_P1.AXX

If the FRMW is renamed, the GENSEC name is not renamed dynamically.

This now behaves like a static rule, the user must navigate to the GENSEC and run the command RULE REXE to rename the GENSEC.

Static Rules

Static rules are not affected as the rules must be re-executed to invoke the name rule change.

Setting Pseudo Attributes

Rules must not be used to set pseudo attributes. The best example of this are the POSS and POSE attributes on GENSECs.

If a rule needs to be set to modify the start position of a GENSEC, it must be set for the direct attribute POS of GENSEC. If a rule needs to be set to modify the end position of a GENSEC, it must be set for the direct attribute POS of second POINT of SPINE of GENSEC.
