AVEVA E3D Model Conversion Process

  • Last UpdatedOct 28, 2024
  • 1 minute read

The conversion process from E3D projects to S3D projects comprises three stages:

Design Project stage

Create the correct model and catalogs in E3D.

Conversion stage

Create mapping data in AVEVA E3D Model Conversion.

Post Conversion stage

Carry out post conversion tasks in E3D.

The conversion process is not totally automatic, large parts of the work will still depends on skills and experience. With the mapping data being the most important task to be carried out. The quality of the converted project depends on the quality of the mapping and the current limitations of both E3D and S3D. Refer to Limitations for further information.

Conversion can be carried out on three levels:

Low

Exports only the volumetric geometry (graphics) from the E3D project to S3D.

Medium

Exports the volumetric geometry for each element along with the hierarchy from the E3D project to the S3D project.

High

Exports the full model from the E3D project which then displays and behaves in S3D as if it was created in the software.

AVEVA E3D Model Conversion can be used for the following disciplines:

  • Electrical

  • Hangers and Supports

  • HVAC

  • Piping

  • Structures.
