Customize Error Text

  • Last UpdatedSep 03, 2024
  • 2 minute read

When it is not possible to extract data from an attribute, the intelligent text system returns an error and (by default) substitutes the text ‘---’ for the missing data. The NTEXT attribute allows you to substitute your own ‘null text’. For example:

NTEXT ’No data’

NTEXT can consist of up to 12 characters. It is an attribute of DEPT, REGI and DRWG. LIBY, SHLB, OVER and LAYE elements, and its setting is cascaded down the hierarchy.

Default Value for Annotations

The default value for annotations can be defined for different elements.

TEXP Elements

Default text visual style is active:

  • If the NTEXT attribute is unset on the parent drawing, the 'ABC' default text is used.

  • If the NTEXT attribute is defined on the parent drawing, the value is used as the default text.

Other text visual style is active:

  • The default value is referenced from the Customize Error Text property of the active visual style.

    Note:
If a new text string is used to create a TEXP element, this becomes the default value for the rest of the current session.

SLAB Elements

Default text visual style is active:

  • If the NTEXT attribute is unset on the parent drawing, no default text us used.

  • If the NTEXT attribute is defined on the parent drawing, the value is used as default text.
