AVEVA™ Unified Engineering

Example Group Creation

The following example shows how to build a simple model and export it to AVEVA Process simulation. The model is designed to represent a simple flare and contains the sort of elements which may be encountered in practice.

To build the model graphically by picking, a useful option is to switch to monochrome before setting out so that the group building process is shown more clearly.

To start building the group graphically select the cursor icon and start picking the elements required for the build.

Note:
The building process tries to link the series of nodes together into a connected model so the order in which the branches are picked should be a close as possible to the direction of the required stream in APS.

Press Escape to complete the group.

Note
Some of the branches in the model are not required in the simulation so only the main stream is picked for the final result. When all the required model has been picked, pressing escape completes the model sequence.

Taking a closer look at the completed group model, it can now be seen how the nodes are distributed around the significant flow elements rather than pipes and branches. The parts of the model can now be edited before exporting the model. Refer to Editing the Node Group for further information.
