HVBRCO circular requirements

  • Last UpdatedApr 14, 2025
  • 4 minute read

This topic describes the specification requirements for branch connector (HVBRCO) sub components positioned on circular owning ducting.

Parameter description requirements

  • Parameter #1 = Width of branch arrive

  • Parameter #2 = Width of owner

Data set requirements

For information about data set requirements that apply for all circular components, refer to Circular component requirements.

The following requirements are in addition to the data references that are created for parameters.

P-point requirements

The following P-points are required for branch connectors positioned on circular owning ducting.

Because branch connectors positioned on circular owning ducting are sub components, without an arrive or leave, the P-points are different from inline components. The orientation of the P-points and the geometry must follow the examples in this topic.

  • P9 defines the position and orientation of the branch connector on the surface of the owning duct, and must be on the X axis, with a direction of X, and positioned at the intersection of the owning duct.

    • P9 can be any P-Point type, but PTAX is the simplest option because it is positioned on the X axis and directed to X.

    • Axis Direction (PAXI) must be X.

In most cases, P9 is set as shown in the following graphic:

  • P3 is used to define the branch connection size and shape, and to position the branch connector in the Model module.

    • P3 must be positioned at the branch connection point, in the direction the attached branch leave will be.

    • P3 can be any P-point type.

    • Connection Type (PCON) must be CIRC.

    • Bore (PBOR) must be (RPRO ABRA).

    • Point Width (PWID) must be (RPRO ABRA).

    • PDShape attribute must be CIRC.

    • AllAngle attribute must be 1.

PDShape and AllAngle attributes cannot be set on the Model View form, they must be manually set on the Attributes form or the Command Window.

In most cases, P3 is set as shown in the following graphic:

Branch connectors for circular ducting require P-points P61–P64. These are used by the HVAC application to control the placement on inline components, and on implied ducting components.

P61–P64 must be defined according to the following:

  • The P-points must be on the same Y-Z plane as P-point P9.

  • The p-points must have Direction set to -X.

  • The P-point type is not required, but PTMI is recommended because it allows the required position and Axis Direction to be set easily.

The order of the P-points and PAXI setting do not affect how the components work, but it is good practice to be consistent when building the catalogue.

With P9 having a PAXI of 'X', P61–P64 will be on the same Y-Z plane, with a PAXI of '-X', and the P-points arranged as shown in the following graphic:

In most cases, P61 for example, is set as shown in the following graphic:

Specification requirements

The following specification headings are required:

  • Type (TYPE)

  • Owner Shape (OSHA)

  • Owner Width (OWID)

  • Owner Height (OHEI) = 0
