You normally navigate to an element by means of the Model Explorer or the Members List.
Model Explorer
The Model Explorer provides an easy-to-use, graphical method of exploring the Design Database.

It has the following features:
-
A Tree View display of the application database elements (which can be expanded and contracted by clicking the
or
icons) in the current MDB. The icons in the tree view represent the different application
database element types.
-
Navigation to database elements in the application databases
-
The ability to manage items in the display using the Drawlist (a separate window listing the displayed items)
-
The ability to query the attributes of, rename, delete, copy and paste application database elements.
The current element can be identified in the Model Explorer as the highlighted item in the tree view.
Model Explorer replaces most of the functions of the Members List in Model. However, some functionality is still used, refer to Hierarchy for further information.
The Model Explorer will be displayed on entry to Model. If the user dismisses it, it can be reinstated by, on the TOOLS tab, in the Explorers group click Model.
Other Explorers
Besides the Model Explorer (used to navigate the Design database), there are similar explorers in Draw (used to navigate the Draw database), Spool and Isodraft (used to navigate the ISOD (spool drawings)) database and Catalog (used to navigate Catalog, Design and Properties databases).
Explorer Filters
A predefined set of database filters are available to reduce the amount of information presented in the Explorers. You can turn these filters on/off by right-clicking in Model Explorer window to display Filter menu.
Note:
You must right-click within the white space areas of the Explorer window and not over an element to display the Filter menu.
These are made up of a collection of core filters, filters can be selected and turned on and off from each Explorer. When filtering is off the complete Database hierarchy is displayed in the Explorer. Only one system filter can be active at any given time for each Explorer.

Additional preset filters are available using the Explorer Settings window for special case elements. To the Explorer Settings window, on the PROJECT tab select Options > Explorer Settings. These filters can be toggled on/off regardless of whether the system filters have been set.

Collections
The Collections window is used to group data into collections and display search results. You can then implement operations on all the items in a collection in one action. On the Home tab, in the Search group, click Collections to display the Collections window, refer to Collections window for further information.
