Create snub pulley

  • 2 minute read

A snub pulley is a secondary pulley positioned close to the drive pulley on the return side of the belt. It increases the angle of wrap around the drive pulley to enhance grip between the conveyor belt and the drive pulley, improving traction and reducing belt slippage.

Use this procedure to create a snub pulley on an existing conveyor to improve belt traction and reduce slippage.

Prerequisites

A conveyor must already exist, with no existing snub pulley at either the head or tail pulley.

Steps

  1. Select the conveyor where you want to create a snub pulley.

  2. On the Mining tab, in the Create group, select Snub Pulley to display the Create Snub Pulley window.

  3. In the dropdown list, select Head or Tail of the conveyor.

  4. Enter values for the Wrap Angle, Belt Height Difference, and Snub Diameter.

  5. Select the pulley type from the list of available catalog options.

Note: Select View to preview dimensions and validate input values.

  6. Select Fix to first idler to lock the position of the return belt, or select Adjust to take up belts to maintain proper belt tension.

  7. Select Create.
    The snub pulley is created.
