-
From the Piping Component Editor window, select the Hull Routing tab.
-
Click Surface Selection, click to select the plates in the plate(s) to be routed against in the 3D graphical view. The selected plate(s) are highlighted red.
-
In the 3D graphical view, select a elbow, the routing plane is shown, currently it's set to horizontal. The available intersection directions are shown by the red axes.

-
Once the plate(s) have been selected, press ‘Esc’ a curved projection line is displayed.
-
From the Create/Modify Component pane, change the Intersection Direction to Z.
-
Click Route next component as the CE cannot be positioned at the curve as the direction of movement for the CE is Z and this doesn't intersect with the curve.

-
The copy preview is displayed in the 3D graphical view, click Copy, Orientate and Position Current Component.

-
The CE is copied, orientated in relation to the curve and its P0 is positioned at the curve.
-
Use the Positioning functionality to select a point of interest on the curve, for example the end of one of the curve spines.
Note:
Alternatively, the angle of the CE can be changed, use the Modification functionality available from the Modify tab of the Piping Component Editor window.
-
If required, the routing may result in an odd angle that wouldn't make sense to fabricate so modify the angle in the Create/Modify Component pane of the Piping Component Editor window to a more appropriate angle, for example 40 degrees.

-
The copy preview is displayed in the 3D graphical view, click Copy, Orientate and Position Current Component and the repeat the process until the pipe has been routed successfully up the hull panel(s).
