Model Visual Layers

Model visual layers are similar in behaviour to the visual layers used by annotations on drawings but affect the colour, line-type and visibility of the VIEW model geometry created by update design.
Model Visual Layers are library elements stored under a top level LIBY > VLYSET, or a REGI > LIBY > VLYSET, but not under a drawing. They are referenced directly by representation styles. A representation style, rather than specifying a colour and line-type, can optionally specify a library model visual layer instead. The model visual layer is then associated with any VIEW model geometry that uses that representation style. VIEW model geometry can only be linked with a model visual layer via its representation style, use of model visual layers is dependent on the administrator setting up the model visual layers library and representation styles that reference them.
Once an update design produces VIEW model geometry with associated model visual layers, the user can modify the colour, line-type and visibility of a model visual layer locally under a drawing (this does not affect the library version). Refer to Create and Modify Visual Layers for further information.
Note:
Like visual styles, modifying a library model visual layer immediately affects any
existing drawings that reference it. If this is not the intention, modify a new copy
instead and reference it from a representation style.

Create new layer |
Click to add a new model visual layer. You can amend the default attributes. Refer to Create Model Visual Layer for further information. |
Explore the layer hierarchy |
Click to display the Hierarchy Browser window, indicating the location of the model visual layer hierarchy. |
Delete selected layers |
Click to delete the selected model visual layers from the Global Model Visual Layers list. A confirmation window displays asking you to OK the deletion. Click Yes to delete the selected model visual layers. |
Create a new layer with starting values copied from the selected one |
Allows you to copy an existing model visual layer. Refer to Create Model Visual Layer for further information. |
Name |
Indicates the name of the model visual layer. Double click the cell to modify the name. Layer names must be unique for each model visual layer. |
Colour |
Click the cell and select a colour from the drop-down list to define the model visual layer colour. |
Line Type |
Click the cell and select a line type from the drop-down list to define the model visual layer line type. |
Visibility |
Click the cell to indicate the display status of the model visual layer. If the cell displays ON, the model visual layer is visible, this is the default setting. If the cell displays OFF, the model visual layer is not visible. |
Export |
Click the cell to indicate the print/export status of the model visual layer. If the cell displays ON, the model visual layer is printed and exported, this is the default setting. If the cell displays OFF, the model visual layer is not printed or exported. |
