Transform Draft 12​.1 data for Draw

You can transform visual elements (sheets, backing sheets, overlays, symbol templates, Isodraft symbol templates, and sheet templates) when migrating Draft project data to Draw. The transformation is not required for new projects created in AVEVA E3D Design, or for new visual elements created in Draw.

You must transform visual elements, originally created in Draft, before viewing or modifying them. When the transformation is complete and the session is saved, the process is not reversible, other than by reverting or backtracking a database session.

You can identify visual elements in either Draft or Draw by way of the read-only ACPICT attribute, which is the Draw picture flag. The attribute value OFF indicates a Draft visual element; the attribute value ONLY indicates a Draw visual element.

You can transform Draft visual elements in two ways:

• Draft visual elements can be transformed when they are first opened in Draw. By default, a confirm window appears asking you to OK the transformation. Select Yes to transform the visual elements. When you use this process, you must manually refresh the overlays. For more information, see Refresh overlays.

• Draft visual elements can be transformed manually in advance. For more information, see Manually transform Draft data.

  Note:
  When you migrate data from Draft, Draw may draw some elements differently. On first import, these elements appear similar to the originals. When you update the elements, Draw refreshes the elements to the Draw display style. For example, using a Current Owner update. This includes Space Management elements such as SPMSPC elements.
