Limitations

The following are the known AVEVA E3D Model Conversion limitations:
-
Only new elements are added to the model hierarchy (at this moment in time, incremental translation of the model is not supported).
-
Elements removed from the E3D project are not considered.
-
Modified elements in the E3D project are ignored.
-
New none primary elements (valves) are not considered.
-
The recommended approach is to delete the existing site then recreate from scratch.
-
AVEVA Model Convertor will require a restart when switching from an imperial project to a metric one.
Post processing required
Note:
S3D work breakdown structure is more flexible that E3D.

PIPINGSYSTEM not covered
Element mapping limitations
-
Panels - there is no obvious equivalent for panels in S3D
-
Mapped to prismatic shape (express extrusion)
-
Intermediate equipment hierarchy is required
-
PFIT not recognized
-
-
FITTINGS (PFITT, FITT, CMPF and so on)
-
Catalogs are not recreated
-
Positive geometries are expressed as imported shapes (SAT)
-
Negative geometries are not recreated
-
Converted 3D model contain clashes
-
-
Beams with DESPARA
-
Exported as EQUI + PRIMITIVES
-
-
Structural Joints (SJOI, PJOI)
-
Logical connections are created
-
Positive geometries expressed as imported shapes (SAT)
-
-
Scheduled information needs to be post processed (Excel export/import)
-
Schedule information is currently stored in SDTE in the existing catalog projects
-
PD can be investigated if required (this would be based on WTHTAB and PDAREF attributes)
-
-
Piping Insulation
-
The mapping approach is mandatory
-
The mapping table is defined using the AVEVA E3D Model Conversion UI
-
Insulation tables have to exist in S3D defaults
-
-
Excel file generation
-
If too many E3D specifications are intended to be generated at once, an out of memory exception is raised. Therefore ten specifications is the optimum
-
-
Customized SKEY is not considered
-
