Create Flat Section View

Creates a flat section view through an existing view.

You are prompted to Select view

Note:
The prompt does not display if a view is already selected.

Click to identify the view to create a flat section view from.

A 3D preview image of the selected view displays at the cursor.

You are then prompted to Specify projection or <Share Drawlist>

To specify the projection view direction, move the cursor to the appropriate side of the view. For example, if the required projection is a view of the objects from the top, move the cursor to the top of the view. The objects in the 3D preview image change to reflect their appearance from the selected direction.

Input values in the dimension fields and press Enter or move the cursor the required distance away from the original view, click to confirm the location of the view. The projection view is created.

You are then prompted to Specify cutting plane position or <Stepped>

To indicate the cutting plane, move the cursor up or down, or from side to side on the original view (depending on the projection view specified). The shaded area indicates the area to cut. The view is from the edge of the shaded area into the unshaded area.

Input values in the dimension fields and press Enter or click to identify the required cutting plane.

The projection view changes to display the specified section view.

You are then prompted to Specify cutting plane position or <Finish>

The prompt is repeated allowing you to create a second cutting plane position.

Input F at the prompt and press Enter to end the command. The section view is created. A view section indicator is also created to indicate the location of the section plane on the source view.

Throughout the view creation process you can press ESC to cancel the command. Additional functionality is also available.

The new VIEW element displays in the Draw Explorer.
