P-line Identification
- Last UpdatedMay 05, 2023
- 4 minute read
Each P-line is identified by a two, three or four letter code (known as its PKEY) which identifies its relative position in the 2D profile
Note:
Each P-line is extruded in the design model to represent a line running along the
length of a section.
Standard P-lines
All GTYPES have a common set of 14 standard P-lines.

9 of the P-lines are positioned at the corners and centrelines of a bounding box drawn around the profile.

The remaining 5 P-lines are positioned at the Neutral Axis (NA) and on the bounding box, where lines drawn through the NA in X and Y directions to intersect the bounding box.

For symmetrical profiles, some P-lines are coincident. For asymmetrical profiles, no P-lines are coincident.

Generic Type Specific P-lines
GTYPE specific P-lines ensure the trimming functionality is maintained.

Extra P-lines on bolt gage lines are available.
Relevant P-lines must have the Cconnect attribute set to ANY to maintain trimming functionality.
