For information about how to setup and make net weight calculations for any part of the HVAC model, refer to Weight and Center of Gravity (CofG).

Weights in AVEVA supplied specifications

For information about weight element requirements for AVEVA supplied catalogues and specifications, refer to Weight element requirements.

Component weights

Use the following commands to query component weights

q nwei

Query the component net weight.

q gwei

Query the component gross weight.

q rwei

Query the component rough weight.

q cmpr of spref

Query the component weight in the component reference.

For example,
Cmpref /HVAC-CMPD/CSTRA,

where /HVAC-CMPD/CSTRA includes the component weight (CWeight).

Insulation weight

For information about how to apply and show insulation for components and elements, refer to Insulation Functionality.

The weight of the insulation material depends on the following HVAC duct shapes:

  • Rectangular

  • Oval

  • Circular

Rectangular and oval components use the following formula to calculate insulation weight:

  • Weight = Component weight + 2 * (Width + Height) * fitLen * insulationThickness * DENS

    Component weight

    Component reference Cweight

    Width, Height

    Cross-section values

    fitLen

    Component length

    Insulation thickness

Thickness based on the selected insulation specification

    DENS

    Material reference density

Circular components use the following formula to calculate insulation weight:

  • Weight = Component weight + ((BORE * BORE) + (BORE * BORE) + (BORE * BORE)) * 3.1415926535897932 / (12.0 * TLEN * DENS)

    Component weight

    Component reference Cweight

    BORE

Width (cross section) of the circular shape

    TLEN

    Component length

    DENS

    Material reference density

Tubes use the following formula to calculate insulation weight:

  • WeightOfTube = Tube weight + BORE * BORE * 3.1415926535897932 * 0.25 * TLEN * DENS

    Tube weight

    Component reference UWEI

    BORE

Width (cross section) of the circular shape

    TLEN

    Tube length

    DENS

    Material reference density

Use the following commands to query insulation weights

q nwei(“insu”)

Query the component net weight including the insulation weight.

q matref of ispec

Query the component gross weight.

For example,
Matref /FIBERGLASS-INSULATION,

where Matref has TDEN-> SDEN->, which has the material density.

SDensity includes Density as kg/m3.
