By default, a large part of the Draw module functionality is also available in the Model module. Drawings can be viewed, created and modified.
When the Draw discipline is selected, five additional tabs display on the Fluent UI:
-
Draw Home
-
Draw
-
Annotate
-
Advanced
-
Whitespace

These tabs also display when the Hull Design and Space Management disciplines are selected.
All other disciplines display only the Draw Home tab.
To use the Draw functionality in Model, the following conditions must be met:
-
The Model module must have access to the Draw databases with read and write, or read only, access. Module setup is managed using AVEVA Administration for the projects you want to use. If module access to the Draw databases is set to None or Unset (default), it is still possible to create a Draw hierarchy in the Model module (an empty Draw database is always available), but it cannot be saved using Save Work.
-
The Draw application in Model configuration database setting must be turned on in the system defaults of the Draw module. Refer to Set System Defaults for further information. This affects the whole project. By default, the setting is on, if the setting is turned off for a project (or its primary project) the Draw discipline and tabs do not display.
The functionality available on the Draw tabs is identical to the Draw module. Refer to Tabs for further information.
The functionality available on the Whitespace tab is described. Refer to AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer Functionality in Model for further information.
The Model Powerwheel™ can be used when the 3D view is active. The Draw Powerwheel™ can be used when the drawing canvas is active.
The following functionality is not available on the Project tab in the Model module when the Draw application in Model configuration database setting is turned off:
-
New Drawing
-
Open
-
Close All Drawings
-
Print Drawing
-
Export Settings
-
Naming, in the view options.
-
Object Visibility, in the view options.
Activating Draw in Model makes it possible to view both the 3D view and the 2D drawing canvas at the same time, for example:
