The General part of the Create Step Ladder Handrail Assembly window displays by default, the administrator can name, describe and define the new Step Ladder Assembly element.

Name

Input a name for the new Step Ladder Assembly in the field.

Description

The administrator can input a description into the optional field. If populated, the description displays in the list of administration tasks.

Climbing Height

Input a value in the field to define the height of the Step Ladder Assembly (not including the handrail).

Top Extension

Input a value in the field to define the top extension distance for the Step Ladder Assembly.

Rise

Input a value in the field to define the distance between each tread.

Pitch

Input a value in the field to define the pitch angle for the Step Ladder Assembly.

Tread Depth

Input a value in the field to define the tread depth for the Step Ladder Assembly.

Handrail Clear Width

Input a value in the field to define the distance between the left and right handrail.

Handrail Start Height

Input a value in the field to define the start height of the handrail, measured from the bottom of the Step Ladder Assembly.

Pitchline Offset

Input a value in the field to define the height of the handrail, measured from the top edge of the stringer parallel to the pitch angle.

Rail Bend Radius

Input a value in the field to define the handrail exit bend radius.

Top Post Offset

Input a value in the field to define the position of the handrail top post, measured from the top of the Step Ladder.

Post Spacing

Input a value in the field to define the distance between the posts. The entered value, top post offset and handrail start height is used to calculate the number of posts in the Step Ladder Assembly.

Post Extension

Input a value in the field to define the extension of the handrail posts, measured from the top edge of the stringer parallel to the pitch angle.

Exit Height

Input a value in the field to define the height of the exit handrail, measured from the Finished Floor Level.

Exit Extension

Input a value in the field to define the handrail exit extension distance, measured from the edge of the step ladder top extension.

To visualize how the defined parameters equate to the step ladder, click Show diagram to display the Step Ladder and Handrail attributes window.

Click Next to display the Specifications part of the Create Step Ladder Handrail Assembly window. Refer to Handrail Specification for further information.

The Assembly element displays in the Model Explorer and the 3D view.

Click Cancel to discard any inputs and return to the SLH Administration Tasks window.
