Equal Angled Profiles

Because of the different default orientations between the AVEVA E3D Design and Staad Pro systems, the beta angle must be set for both non-vertical and vertical profiles, and the mirror flag must be set to 1. For example:
TABLE ST UA20x20x3 ,/BS-L20x20x3 ,,,-135,135,1
To position the equal angled profile in the correct orientation in Staad Pro, the beta angle must be changed by the value in the mapping file depending upon whether the GENSEC is non-vertical or vertical. Setting the mirror flag value to 1 swaps the start and end nodes of a profile. The combination of the beta angle and mirror flag means that the profile in Staad Pro has the same orientation as the equivalent GENSEC in AVEVA E3D Design.
Most steel tables give the tan(α) property of steelwork profiles which for equal angles is 1.
The beta angle for non-vertical profiles is (atan(tan(α)) + 90) * -1 = -135.
The beta angle for vertical profiles is ((atan(tan(α)) + 90) * -1) +270 = 135.
