The automatic shrinkage compensation "adds" material near the welds and shifts features away from the welds, causing less distortion of geometric features on plates. Automatic shrinkage is divided into four distinct processes:
-
Shrinkage compensation from Connections:
-
Perpendicular to fillet welds,
-
Along fillet welds,
-
-
Shrinkage compensation perpendicular to bevels/seams,
-
Shrinkage compensation of stiffeners.
Each of these processes can be individually turned off or on by their respective setting in the General Settings tab of the Shrinkage Compensation Configuration window.
Note: Any automatic shrinkage compensation process is exclusive to the manual shrinkage compensation.
