Group Data

For simplicity, groups can be created in Staad Pro. Groups are a way of adding members with the same profile or material into a single entity.

START GROUP DEFINITION

_CONCRETE 1 TO 6

_406TUBE 7 TO 12

_PG450 21 TO 34

In subsequent property or material definitions, the member number can be defined by these groups.

MEMBER PROPERTY

_CONCRETE PRIS YD 1.000 ZD 1.000

_PG450 UPTABLE 1 450X450PG

_406TUBE UPTABLE 2 406OD12

MATERIAL CONCRETE MEMB _CONCRETE

On export from AVEVA E3D Design, the group data is maintained. However, the maintenance of these groups is a Staad Pro task. If a new member is added to the model which could be in a group, there is no functionality in AVEVA E3D Design to add the member to the group. The STD file is output as:

MEMBER PROPERTY

_CONCRETE 23 PRIS YD 1.000 ZD 1.000

In the example, 23 is the new member number. The group could be subsequently updated in Staad Pro to include the new member number, if required.

However, if a member is deleted from the model that is included in a group, the member number is removed from the group definition.

For example, if member number 5 is deleted, the group definition on export is updated as follows:

_CONCRETE 1 TO 4 6
