  • 7 minute read

Positioned at the bottom of the user interface, the status bar displays message information and a number of view and selection options.

Click to highlight a status bar option, the feature is then turned on and a white background is displayed. Click again to remove the highlight from a status bar option, the feature is then turned off and the white background is removed.

Some of the status bar options can also be toggled on and off using keyboard function keys. Where this is the case, the keystroke displays in brackets within the tooltip.

Scale

Draw only:

Displays the current scale. If there is no value to display -:- is displayed.

Cursor Coordinates

Indicates the cursor position within the 3D view or drawing canvas.

Show Notifications

Click to display the Notifications window. The number of new notifications is displayed in a red box.

User Messages

As actions are carried out, user messages relating to these actions display on the status bar. For example, errors or warnings.

Click to display the User Messages window which records all the user messages issued in a session.

Click again to close the User Messages window.

Grid (F7)

Turns the grid and ruler display on or off.

Functionality is available to define the grid settings. Refer to Grid Settings for further information.

Grid Snap (F9)

Turns grid snapping on or off.

To temporarily override the current snap to grid setting, hold down the Shift key when manipulating an object.

Open Grid Settings

Defines the grid settings. The grid settings are defined using the Grid Settings window. Refer to Grid Settings for further information.

Polar Tracking (F10)

Turns the display of polar coordinates on or off.

If polar tracking drawing mode is on, objects can only be manipulated using angle and distance coordinates.

Orthogonal Lock (F8)

Turns orthogonal drawing mode on or off.

If orthogonal drawing mode is on, objects can only be manipulated in a horizontal or vertical direction.

To temporarily override the current orthogonal drawing mode setting, hold down the Shift key when manipulating an object.

Dynamic Hints (F12)

Turns the display of non-coordinate related information on or off.

Alignment Snapping

Draw only:

Turns object snapping using alignment guides on or off.

Alignment guides are used to align an object with another object. When the two objects are aligned, the alignment guides are displayed on the drawing canvas.

Nearest create to grid snapping

Draw only:

Turns nearest create object snapping on or off using grid spacing.

The nearest create snaps are displayed at the intersection of objects and the grid.

Note:
The functionality is only available when Grid Snap is turned on. Functionality is available to define the display of the grid using the Grid Settings window.

Nearest create to locked coordination snapping

Draw only:

Turns nearest create object snapping on or off when locked coordinates are specified in the context editor.

The nearest create snaps are displayed as crosshairs on objects along the locked coordinate axis.

Additional Grips

Model only:

Turns on the additional Chamfer and Fillet grips.

Draw only:

Turns on the additional Line Dimension, Connector, Outline and Section Plane grips.

Connector Orthogonal Mode

Draw only:

Turns orthogonal connector mode on or off.

If orthogonal connector mode is on, connectors can only be manipulated in a horizontal or vertical direction.

This also applies to validation and regeneration of connectors when attached elements are modified. For example, after moving an attached symbol, the connector is validated with orthogonal/routing mode and updated if not valid.

Distance Snap

Model only:

Turns distance snapping on or off. The distance is set using the Object Snaps & Pline Filters window. Refer to Object Snaps and P-line Filters for further information.

Projected Start / End

Model only:

Turns projected snap mode on or off.

If projected snap mode is on, the cursor snaps to the connection node of a GENSEC or to the item start/end point if not connected.

Midpoint snapping is measured between the midpoint of the connection nodes if a GENSEC is connected or the item start/end points if not connected.

Significant Snaps

Model only:

Turns significant snap mode on or off.

If significant snap mode is on, the cursor snaps to the connection node of a GENSEC.

Midpoint snapping is measured between the midpoint of the connection nodes of a GENSEC.

Project Snaps onto LCS

Model only:

Specifies if object snaps are projected to the working plane.

Connection Point Routing

Draw only:

Turns connection point routing mode on or off.

If connection point routing mode is on, the connector is routed to match the connection point direction of the first/last segment, for example:

Connections can still be made using the symbol position (if the symbol has no connection point).

If connection point routing mode is off, no routing segment is created on the connector, for example:

This also applies to validation and regeneration of connectors when attached elements are modified. For example, after moving an attached symbol, the connector is validated with orthogonal/routing mode and updated if not valid.

Connection full generation on first / last vertex stretch.

Draw only:

Turns full connection generation on or off when the first or last vertex of a connector is stretched.

If full connection generation is on, the connector is completely regenerated when the first or last vertex is stretched.

If full connection generation is off, only adjacent connector segments are regenerated when the first or last vertex is stretched.

Regeneration is not always full (from first to last vertex), if there is an inside reference position, full regeneration applies from the stretched first/last vertex to the reference position.

In-canvas line weights

Draw only:

Turns the display of line weights on or off.

Automatic update design

Draw only:

Turns automatic design updating on or off. If this is set, database and settings changes are applied automatically. If it is not set, such changes must be applied manually.

Grey out entities from owners other than the current owner

Draw only:

When a view is selected, you can grey out other parts of a drawing that are not owned by you. Refer to Create and Modify Views for further information.

Canvas background gradient

Draw only:

Turns the canvas background gradient on or off.

Object Snapping (F3)

Turns object snapping on or off.

To temporarily override the current object snap setting, hold down the Shift key and right click the mouse button.

Open Object Snap Options

Model only:

Click to define the object snap settings and P-line filter settings. Refer to Object Snaps and P-line Filters for further information.

Draw only:

Click to modify the object snap settings. Refer to Object Snaps for further information.
