Mirror Plane

Duplicate modelling functions use a mirror plane, also called a symmetry plane. You can define the plane on the X, Y, or Z axis, use a stored symmetry plane, or create the plane between two points.

By default, the mirror plane is set to Y=0.

Set the symmetry plane from the Duplicate group on the Common Reference tab.

Define the mirror plane manually

  1. Select the X, Y, or Z axis from the dropdown list:

  2. Enter a value in the adjacent box to specify the plane’s location along the selected axis.

Use a stored symmetry plane

  1. Select Stored from the dropdown list:

  2. Select the name of the stored symmetry plane from the adjacent dropdown list.

    Set the symmetry plane between two points

    1. Select Define Between:

    2. Select the location of the Position to be mirrored the in the 3D view:

    3. Select the location of the Mirrored position in the 3D view.

      The system places the plane between the two selected points.
