AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Extend Batch Transfer source processing

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 1 minute read

The baseline Batch Transfer application supports multiple types of volume devices:

  • Rate

  • Tank

  • Virtual Flow Computer (VFC)

  • Flow Computer

For scenarios where one of these source types needs to be customized, AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids provides you with an extension point that allows you to plug in your own Batch Transfer Source logic. For example, if you want to provide your own processing logic for Virtual Flow Computers (VFC), you have two options:

  • Option 1: Extend the OASySDNA.LMS.BatchXfer.BatchDataHandler.VFC class to customize some aspects of the baseline implementation.

  • Option 2: Implement the OASySDNA.LMS.BatchXfer.BatchTransferPlugin.BatchTransferSourcePlugin abstract class to provide a full implementation.

How to Access the Software Development Kit (SDK)

An example of a Batch Transfer Source plugin can be found in the Software Development Kit (SDK).

Example code is included within the developer environment that is created when you run the Initialize-DevEnvironment.ps1 script within C:\Program Files\AVEVA\DNA\Tools\scripts.

For example:

\Initialize-DevEnvironment.ps1 -Path C:\dev -Name RealTime

You can find two example plugins and related configuration files in:

  • C:\dev\RealTime\source\BatchTransfer\BatchTransferSourcePluginExample1 (extends the existing VFC logic)

  • C:\dev\RealTime\source\BatchTransfer\BatchTransferSourcePluginExample2 (creates a new VFC plugin from Scratch from LMS.Example.sln)
