Flow rate calculations for segments

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025

An instantaneous flow rate is calculated as the total amount of volume moved into the segment divided by the elapsed time. The instantaneous flow rate is averaged over the previous six processing cycles to get the flow rate used for the segment.

Note: If a pipe segment has the Flow Rate Source Path field configured correctly, the instantaneous flow rate of the segment will come from the source reading directly—and not from the aforementioned flow rate calculation. The segment flow rate affects the Hydraulic Profile and ETA calculations in Batch Tracking.
