AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Start or stop a pump

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025

You may only start or stop the pump if the Flow Network State is In Service or Out of Logic.

To start or stop a pump

  1. From the Pump Control dialog, do one of the following:

    • Select Run to start the pump.

    • Select Stop to stop the pump.

After issuing the command, there are a number of validations that the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids completes in order to provide warnings of accidental pump blockages and overridable Flex Tags.

Note: All the validation, including the flow network checks described in the next step, are completed during this initial command. The Override Control dialog displays all of the items that need to be overridden in one step. You can override them all or cancel.

  2. When trying to start a pump that is blocked, a message, like the one below, will appear (the text of the message changes in response to the reason for the pump blockage).

    • Select Override to override the message and continue to send the command.

    • Select Cancel to cancel the command.

This is an example of a confirmation message for a command that violates flow path constraints.

This is an example of message for a pump that is Out-of-Logic. A message similar to the one below will be shown to confirm the command.
