Configure the monitoring conditions for the Pressmon Record

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025

The General Control dialog accessed through the Pressure / Flow Monitoring (Pressmon) Control Menu enables you to configure the monitoring conditions for the selected pressmon record.

To access the General Control dialog

  • Select General Control on the Pressmon Control menu.

The Pressmon General Control dialog appears.

The following table details the items on the General Control dialog.

Field / Button

Description

Sample Size

Type the number of previous pressure and flow rate values (2–15) you want used in determining the next predicted value.

Type 2 when Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) are configured with a long interval between updates to the host (a minimum of two samples are required to obtain the value). Increase the value (up to 15) if there is a decrease in the interval between scan updates from the RTU.

Flow Period (min)

When a pressure alarm condition is detected, this timer is started and the application starts checking all associated flow points for deviation alarms. For each flow alarm detected, the timer is restarted.

When the timer runs out, all flow checking for this pressmon record stops. Pressure deviation checking continues at normal intervals. In other words, if no flow alarm conditions are detected during this time period, flow deviation checking for this record stops.

2nd Deadband

The number of consecutive telemetry samples that must be in violation of the second deadband before AVEVA Enterprise SCADA issues a pressure alarm.

Auto Reset

  • If you want this pressmon record to reset all of its internal variables whenever there is a communication interruption, select Yes under Auto Reset.

  • If you do not want this pressmon record to reset all of its internal variables whenever there is a communication interruption, select No under Auto Reset.

When you select Yes or No, the new setting immediately appears in the Auto Reset field on the Pressure Monitor Control window.

Allow Flow Alarm without Pressure

  • If you want AVEVA Enterprise SCADA to issue deviation alarms and events for flow rates even when there is no alarm condition for pressure, select Yes under Allow Flow alarm w/o Pressure.

  • If you want AVEVA Enterprise SCADA to issue a pressure alarm before issuing any flow alarms, select No under Allow Flow alarm w/o Pressure.

When you select Yes or No, the new setting immediately appears in the Allow Flow Alarm field on the Pressure Monitor Control window.

Inhibit Monitoring

  • If you do not want the Pressmon application to use this monitoring point, select Yes under Inhibit Monitoring.

  • If you do want the Pressmon application to use this monitoring point, select No under Inhibit Monitoring. A Confirmation panel appears asking you to confirm the action. After you confirm the action, the new setting immediately appears in the Inhibit field on the Pressure Monitor Control window.

Pressure Deadband Settings

Provides information about the flow and pressure units.

+DB1

Type a positive deviation value in terms of the first deadband’s pressure Engineering Units (EGUs).

-DB1

Type a negative deviation value in terms of the first deadband’s pressure EGUs.

+DB2

Type a positive deviation value in terms of the second deadband’s pressure EGUs.

-DB2

Type a negative deviation value in terms of the second deadband’s pressure EGUs.

Submit Changes

Select Submit Changes to submit new flow deadband values.
