Use the Main tab in the countdowncfg record to configure the main properties of the point.

To configure the Main tab of the countdowncfg record

  1. Open the countdowncfg record. For more information on opening a countdowncfg record, see Opening a Countdowndcfg Record.

The countdowncfg Row Edit dialog appears.

  2. In the Name field, enter the name of the new record, or click (...) and select the name of the countdowncfg record from the Countdowncfg Select dialog.

  3. In the Source Path field, click (...) to select the path to the rate, batchXfer, tank, or virtualflowcomputer record used as the target source.

  4. In the Description field, enter a description of the record. The Description can be up to 47 characters in length. This field is for information purposes only and can be used to describe the record, its association with other points, or any other textual information. The Name and Description configured for a record appear in the summary tables in easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS).

  5. In the Group field, click (...) and select the name of the group this record belongs to from the Group Select dialog. Groups are assigned to closely related records.

  6. In the Dataset field, click (...) and select the name of the dataset you want to associate with this record from the Dataset Select dialog.

A dataset contains privileges assigned for each system and mode. Once a record is assigned to a dataset value, the dataset can only be changed to a value for which the system has a privilege record. A record’s dataset can not be changed in such a way that the system can no longer access the record.

  7. (Optional) In the Station field, click (...) to select an associated station record.

  8. In the Base Message field, click (...) and select the message associated with the record from the Message Select dialog.

  9. (Optional) In the Location field, enter the location of the target source. This field is for informational purposes only.

  10. From the Control Type dropdown list, select the method of starting and stopping a countdown to a target volume. Options are as follows:

    • Manual — Controller starts and stops the countdown.

    • Full Automatic — a multistate point controls the starting and stopping of the countdown. If the Control Type selected is Full Automatic, the Activation Status, State Configuration, and Status Point Disable functions are enabled as shown below.

    • Man Start/Auto Stop — Controller starts the countdown, and it stops automatically when the target is reached.

  11. In the Activation Status field, click (...) to select the name of the controlling multistate point used for the Full Automatic Control Type. The multistate point selected here must be configured with an input message set.

Note: This field is mandatory when the Control Type is set to Full Automatic. This field is not applicable for the Manual and Man Start/Auto Stop Control Types.

  12. If the Control Type selected is Full Automatic, select State Configuration to display the State Configuration dialog.

The State Configuration dialog allows you to map each message set entry on the selected multistate point to one of the following countdown actions:

    • Start: When the state of the multistate point matches the selected message, the countdown will automatically start.

    • Stop: When the state of the multistate point matches the selected message, the countdown will automatically stop.

    • Unused: When the state of the multistate point matches the selected message, the countdown will do nothing.

Note: By default, all multistate messages are mapped to Unused. If this configuration is left unchanged for a specific countdown, the system will assume that a START message is expected to perform the automatic start, and a STOP message is expected to perform the automatic stop.

  13. If the Control Type is Full Automatic, and you want the Controller to start and stop the countdown, select the Status Point Disable checkbox.

  14. In the Deltas required to determine direction field, enter the number of consecutive flow deltas in the same direction required to determine the countdown direction. Values must be between 1 and 10 (inclusively).

    1. If the delta in volume has been positive for a number of consecutive cycles (equal to or greater than this configured value), the countdown direction is set to UP.

    2. If the delta in volume has been negative for a number of consecutive cycles (equal to or greater than this configured value), the countdown direction is set to DOWN.

Note: The system will consider the default value as 3 internally for any invalid configuration.

  15. Select the Alarm/Event on Source checkbox to associate alarms and events with the source point being monitored (rather than the countdown object itself).

For example, if the source point being monitored by the Countdown application is a tank, alarms and events generated by Countdown will be associated with the tank and not the countdown itself.

Note: If the Alarm/Event on Source option is enabled and alarms/events are inhibited on the source point, the system will not generate the countdown alarms/events.

  16. In the Warning time 1 (min) field, enter the number of minutes prior to the estimated time of target completion at which the system should issue the first warning alarm.

  17. In the Warning time 2 (min) field, enter the number of minutes prior to the estimated time of target completion at which the system should issue the second warning alarm.

  18. In the Warning volume 1 field, enter the amount of volume below the target volume which, when reached, causes the system to issue the first warning alarm.

  19. In the Warning volume 2 field, enter the amount of volume below the target volume which, when reached, causes the system to issue the second warning alarm.

  20. From the Pre-zero alarm severity dropdown list, select the alarm severity to use for the warning alarms.

  21. From the Completed alarm severity dropdown list, select the alarm severity to use for the alarm issued when the target is reached.

  22. In the Priority display field, enter the name of the graphic you want to associate with the Priority Display icon on the ezXOS Countdown Control dialog.
