Understand volume counter reset

There are scenarios where the Raw Volume Counter is reset to zero, and it continues to increment at a normal rate from zero. The algorithm will detect a counter reset if the next value read after the reset is between zero and the Max Reasonable Volume Delta. For more information, see Understand how anomalous conditions are detected.
After the reset is detected, the Virtual Flow Computer (VFC) will continue to increment (it will not reset its own counter), adding the delta between zero and the raw counter volume to its own counter after the reset.
The following chart illustrates a Volume Counter Reset to zero. In this scenario, the Raw Counter Volume is being read at an interval of five seconds.
A reset to zero occurs when the Time is 13 seconds, but the volume is not read until the Time is 15 seconds when the Raw Counter Volume is two.
Note: The bad delta counter will be set to zero after a volume counter reset.
