For each Active Trigger row, there are fields that define how the alarm limits will be adjusted when trigger activation occurs.

To configure the Alarm Limit adjustment type

  1. Using the dropdown under the Adjustment Type column for each of the Short Term, Long Term, and Extended Term balance periods, select the type of adjustment to be applied for the period. Choices are:

    • Factor — The change to the alarm limit is determined by multiplying the configured Steady State alarm limit by a configured factor.

    • Value — The change to the alarm limit is determined by adding or subtracting a configured value.

  2. Using the text boxes under the Upper Deviation Limit Adjustment column for each of the Short Term, Long Term, and Extended Term balance periods, enter the adjustment to be applied to the upper alarm limit for the period.

The adjustment will be either a factor or value depending on Adjustment Type.

  3. Using the text boxes under the Lower Deviation Limit Adjustment column for each of the Short Term, Long Term, and Extended Term balance periods, enter the adjustment to be applied to the lower alarm limit for the period.

The adjustment will be either a factor or a value depending on Adjustment Type.

  4. Using the text box under the Hold Time column, enter the number of minutes for which maximum alarm adjustments are to be applied.

  5. Using the text box under the Decay Time column, enter the number of minutes for which alarm adjustments are to be applied but decreased on each Pipeline Monitor (PLM) processing iteration.

Hold and Decay times can be made specific to each balance period by assigning a minute value to Hold and Decay column for each balance period.

The total time period for alarm adjustment is Hold Time + Decay Time.

Note: Adjustments do not have to be applied for every period. Those periods not having any adjustment will have zeros entered in the Upper Deviation, Lower Deviation, Decay Time, and Hold Time columns.
