AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Valve Management application

Valve objects are designed to represent physical valves within a pipeline. These valve objects are then used by Action Sequence.

These valve objects interact directly with status or multistate points, which provide telemetry information for valve objects.

Historically, status or multistate points were designed to reflect discrete states, rather than situations where change is occurring. Valve objects are designed to interpret the telemetry information provided by the status or multistate points in a valve-specific manner.

For example, a valve may be in an opening rather than an open state. Other applications within AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids then rely on valve objects rather than directly communicating with generic AVEVA Enterprise SCADA point types, which might relay inaccurate information.

This document will assist the user in accessing and controlling valves in an operating environment.

Note: Components on the control displays are enabled or disabled based on the current active mode's privileges. This is configured through the records' controllable privileges in DistribuSyS. If you do not have permission to control the record, the following message will appear on your control displays: Active mode prohibits control from this system. Talk to your Administrator for more information.
