The Alarm Settings tab of the Pipeline Monitor (plm) record enables you to configure alarm settings that are not specific to any balance period.
To configure the Alarm Settings tab
-
Open the plm record, and select the Alarm Settings tab. For more information on how to open the plm record, see Opening the Pipeline Monitoring (PLM) Record.
The Alarm Settings tab appears.

-
(Optional) To reissue the the deviation alarm every minute while the limit violation persists, select the Issue Integration Period Alarms Every Minute checkbox. If not selected the deviation alarms are only issued when the limit violation first occurs.

-
(Optional) To save instantaneous (one minute interval) balance values to Historical, select the Collect Instantaneous Data checkbox.

In the Bad Data Threshold field, enter an integer between 0 and 100. The system calculates the percentage of data flagged as bad data (for a given term) and if the calculated percentage exceeds the configured threshold, the term quality will be flagged as Bad Data. The period quality is observed in the Status column of the PLM Control display (which is in the easy eXtended Operator Station [ezXOS]). For more information, refer to the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids Controller documentation.
-
From the Extended Alarming Method dropdown list, select the method used for applying the balance limits.
-
Disable: Standard application of limits is used. In this case, the following occurs:
-
No adjustments to configured limits are made.
-
The limits are compared with the balance calculated over the period and a violation condition occurs if a limit is exceeded.
-
You will be unable to define triggers to expand alarm limits or set up voting.

Dynamic Alarming and PLM Voting: Dynamic Alarms Adjustment
-
The configured limits are expanded if a transient condition is determined to exist.
-
The limits are compared with the balance calculated over the period and a violation condition occurs if a limit is exceeded.
-
-
PLM Voting:
-
No adjustments to configured limits are made.
-
The limits are compared with the balance calculated for each minute within the period. If the number of minutes where a limit was exceeded is equal to or greater than the configured maximum for the period, a balance limit violation exists for the period.
