Understand balance calculations for the Pipeline Monitor (PLM) region

Once all volume changes for the current minute from each input device for the region, the volume balance is calculated. The balance value is expressed as a deviation from the balanced condition. Deviation can be expressed in either of two ways:

• As an absolute difference between the volume gain in the region and the volume loss in the region.

• As a deviation percentage. This is done by taking the absolute difference above, dividing by the metered volume gain, and converting to a percentage.
