At any location in a pipeline system where the transfer of a batch can be measured, the Batch Transfer application can be used to monitor and keep a record of the batches that move through the location. The location is most typically an entry (receipt) point into the pipeline or an exit (delivery) point out of the pipeline. It can also be any location of measured movement within a terminal, such as from one tank to another.
This section describes the following:
-
How to configure the Batch Transfer Management application so that any location in the system can have the batch throughput tracked.
-
The meaning of the data generated by the Batch Transfer Management application.
For more information on using the Batch Transfer Management application, refer to the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids Controller documentation.
Key Concepts
-
Configuration data and runtime data for the location are contained in the batchXfer table.
-
Configuration data for each device assigned to the location for batch flow measurement is contained in the batchXferSource table.
-
Runtime data for each device assigned to the location for batch flow measurement is contained in the batchXferCalc table.
-
The runtime data in the tables noted above provides a representation of batch progress in real time.
-
The runtime data in the tables noted above, when saved to the Historical service, is sufficient so that custody transfer tickets for the batch movement can be generated if desired.
Key Tasks
-
Configuration for a batch movement location in pipeline system.
-
Understanding the data generated for the location.
-
Understanding each element of configured data.
-
Using the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) for Batch Transfer configuration.
