It is possible to temporarily pause an Action Sequence when it is executing. For an example of when Pause and Resume are used, see Understand how Action Sequences will work in the event of a service interruption.
Note: If you pause an Action Sequence when it is on the last step in the sequence, the Pause will be ignored.
To pause an action sequence
-
From the Action Sequence Summary window, select the row header of the executing action sequence that you would like to pause.
The Action Sequence Control window will appear.

-
Select Pause.
At this point, the step that is currently executing will finish, and the step will be in a Pausing state.

The following will occur:
-
If the step that was executing when Pause was clicked failed, the action sequence will be stopped, and the State will be shown as Failed. At this point, if you clicked Dismiss, you would see the Failed step highlighted in the Action Sequence Step Summary.

-
If the step that was executing when Pause was clicked was successful, the action sequence will be stopped, and the State will be shown as Paused.

Note: You will not be able to inhibit the record when it is in a Pause or Pausing state. If you wish to inhibit, you will have to stop the executing step and then select the Step Inhibited checkbox.
