Hold Persist

The Hold Persist option can be used to specify if the system should apply an indefinite hold to the dynamic alarm adjustment. If this option is checked, the system will hold the dynamic alarm adjustment until the deactivation trigger is set. Then, the system will wait for the specified Hold Time before it starts applying the decay.

Note: If the Hold Persist option is selected, a Deactivation Trigger must be specified.

There are three behavioral cases of how the system applies the Hold Time and Hold Persist configurations:

Case A: Hold Time ≥ 0 is configured and Hold Persist is enabled for a given term.

When the activation trigger is set for that term:

  1. The alarm adjustment associated with the term holds until the Deactivation Trigger is set.

  2. When the Deactivation Trigger is set, the system continues to hold the adjusted alarm limits for the configured Hold Time.

  3. When the Hold Time elapses, the system starts to apply the decay using the configured Decay Time.

Case B: If a Hold Time ≥ 0 is configured and Hold Persist is disabled for a given term.

When the activation trigger is set for that term:

  1. The alarm adjustment associated with the term holds for the configured Hold Time.

  2. When the Hold Time elapses, the system starts to apply the decay using the configured Decay Time.

Case C: If a Hold Time < 0 is configured and Hold Persist is enabled or disabled for a given term.

When the activation trigger is set for that term:

  1. The alarm adjustment associated with the term holds until the Deactivation Trigger is set.

  2. When the Deactivation Trigger is set, the system starts to apply the decay using the configured Decay Time.

Note: This is to provide backwards compatibility for legacy configurations where the Hold Time is set to -1 in order to apply an indefinite hold.
