Configure the Inhibits tab on the Accumulator record

The Inhibits tab allows you to inhibit various aspects of the accumulator.

Applying these filters can reduce the number of nuisance alarms that are listed in the Alarm Summary as well as the number of events listed in the Event Summary.

To configure the Inhibits tab on the accumulator record

  1. From the virtualflowcomputer Row Edit dialog of your desired record, create an accumulator record. For more information on creating an accumulator record, see Create an Accumulator record.

The accumulator Row Edit dialog appears.

  2. Select the Inhibits tab.

    The Inhibits tab appears.

Note: The Name and Virtual Flow Computer fields are read-only. These fields are populated when you create your accumulator record.

  3. (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description.

  4. To ensure that the accumulator will not be used, select the Inhibit checkbox.

  5. (Optional) To configure a status or multistate point that will indicate when the record should be inhibited, select the Enable auto inhibit checkbox.

  6. (Optional) If Enable auto inhibit is selected, in the Auto inhibit path field, click (...) to select the status or multistate point that identifies whether the accumulator record should be designated as inhibited or enabled.

  7. (Optional) If Enable auto inhibit is selected, in the Auto inhibit states field, enter one or more integers separated by commas. Each integer represents a status or multistate state that, if present, designates the accumulator as inhibited.

Note: For a Virtual Flow Computer where the Accumulator is attached to a rate point, when the Accumulator is in the Auto-Inhibit state or when it is manually inhibited, changes in the value of the underlying rate point will not be accounted for in the Gross Standard Volume (GSV). These value changes include normal increases in the underlying point as well as jumps, spikes, and rollovers.

  8. (Optional) If Enable auto inhibit is selected, in the Enable States field, enter one or more integers separated by commas. Each integer represents a status or multistate state that, if present, designates the accumulator as enabled.

Note: If a status or multistate state is not specified in the Auto inhibit states or Enable states fields, by default, the accumulator record will be designated as enabled.

  9. To prevent alarms that indicate an abnormal ("off-normal") situation from being recorded in the Alarm Summary, select the Off-Normal Alarm checkbox.

Selecting the Off-Normal Alarm allows you to prevent the logging of all abnormal alarms. As such, if this checkbox is selected, it is no longer necessary to separately inhibit the recording of Jump, Spike, and Bad Delta Violation Alarms. Accordingly, these options will be made unavailable for editing.

  10. To prevent the logging of all normal alarms in the Alarm Summary, select the Normal Alarm checkbox.

  11. To prevent alarms associated with jumps in the value from being registered in the Alarm Summary, select the Jump Alarm checkbox.

  12. To prevent alarms associated with spikes in the value from being registered in the Alarm Summary, select the Spike Alarm checkbox.

  13. To prevent alarms associated with a bad delta violation from being registered in the Alarm Summary, select the Bad Delta Violation Alarm checkbox.

  14. To prevent events that indicate an abnormal ("off-normal") situation from being recorded in the Event Summary, select the Off-Normal Log checkbox. If this checkbox is selected, it is no longer necessary to separately inhibit the logging of Jump, Spike, and Bad Delta Violation Events. Accordingly, these options will be made unavailable for editing.

  15. To prevent the logging of normal events in the Event Summary, select the Normal Log checkbox.

  16. To prevent events associated with jumps in the value from being recorded in the Event Summary, select the Jump Event checkbox.

  17. To prevent events associated with spikes from being recorded in the Event Summary, select the Spike Event checkbox.

  18. To prevent events that are associated with a bad delta violation from being recorded in the Event Summary, select the Bad Delta Violation Event checkbox.
