The following procedure details how to configure the Pipeline Volume Monitor Device (plmvoldevice) record.
To configure the plmvoldevice record
-
From the Advanced Database Editor (ADE), navigate to the plmvoldevice record. For more information on accessing the plmvoldevice record, see Access the Plmvoldevice record.
-
Double-click the plmvoldevice record you wish to configure.
The plmvoldevice Row Edit appears.

Note: The Parent PLM and Name fields are automatically populated and not available for edit.
-
(Optional) In the Description field, enter a description of the plmvoldevice record.
Notes: The Group and Dataset fields are inherited from the Pipeline Monitor (plm) record and cannot be edited.
The value in the Device Type field is selected from the Create Volume Device dialog when the record is created. This field cannot be edited. -
(Optional) In the Device Path field, enter a path to the table, record, and field that is the measurement data source, or click (...) to select a path. For more information about how to select a pathway, refer to Volume 1 of the RealTime Administrator documentation.
-
(Optional) If required, select the Enable High Limit checkbox and specify the Volume Delta High Limit if you would like the system to check the calculated volume delta against a high limit.
If selected, minutely volume deltas above the specified high limit are deemed to be invalid and are dropped from PLM calculations.
-
(Optional) If required, select the Enable Low Limit checkbox and specify the Volume Delta Low Limit if you would like the system to check the calculated volume delta against a low limit.
If selected, minutely volume deltas below the specified low limit are deemed to be invalid and are dropped from PLM calculations.
-
(Optional) To ensure the value from the device is handled as fresh if it is flagged as manual, select the Manual value ok checkbox (otherwise the PLM will go stale when the underlying point for the volume device is manual).
-
(Optional) In the Filter Factor field, specify the smoothing factor that is applied to the delta tank volume and linefill volume changes that are calculated by the Pipeline Monitor application. This value is applied in the same manner as the Deviation Filter Constant, which is configured on the Main tab of the plm Row Edit dialog. This value must be greater than 0 and less than or equal to 1. A value of 1 corresponds to no smoothing. Four decimal places of accuracy are allowed for this field.
Note: This field is only enabled if the Device Type field is set to Tank or Linefill.
-
(Optional) From the Input/Output dropdown box, select if the meter is configured as input to the PLM system (In) or as output from the PLM system (Out).
Note: The Input/Output field is not available for configuration for linepack segments, linefill devices, or tanks.
