Understand pump Line Blockage alarms

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 3 minute read

The following table lists events and alarms that are generated by Line Blockage related to pumps. Alarms and events are generated against the status or multistate point associated with the pump, not the pump itself.

For more information on Message Sets, see Work with the pump message sets. The pump line blockage alarms are all generated with the Message Set “Pump Shutdown (message set element 4)."

Notes: The following alarms and events will be generated when the Flow Network is configured for Device Based Alarming. When the Flow Network is configured for Model Based Alarming, only events are generated for each individual pump.
To generate alarms and events based on Flow Network integrity updates, an alarm or event must be the result of an integrity update and the IntegrityUpdate parameter must be set to true in the LMS.RealTime.json file. For more information, see Understand Flow Network global process settings.

Alarms generated by the Line Blockage application continue to display in the Alarm Summary until acknowledged by the Controller. Each alarm is assigned a unique category consisting of an alphanumeric prefix and a unique identifier to ensure that it does not get replaced by any subsequent alarms of the same type. The categorization, prefix, and unique identifier ensure the Controller is aware of all shutdown instances in the Flow Network.
To update the alarm message or severity configuration, refer to the msgInfo table row for Alarm Message Identifier of interest. For more information on configuration using the msgInfo table, refer to Volume 1 of the RealTime Administrator documentation.

Alarm/Event Message Configuration

Alarm Severity Configuration

Type

Shutdown: <shutdown sequence name> will be executed in <delay> second(s) (triggered by <pump name>) in Flow Network <pump flow network>.

FNET_PUMP_LNBLCK_SHUTDOWN_QUEUED

An alarm and event that is generated when an unexpected line blockage occurs. A delayed shutdown has been queued by Line Blockage and will be executed after the displayed number of seconds.

Base Message

Alarm & Event

Shutdown: <shutdown sequence name> will be executed in <delay> second(s) in Flow Network <flow network>.

FNET_PUMP_LNBLCK_SHUTDOWN_QUEUED_NODEVICE

An alarm and event that is generated when an unexpected line blockage is detected that is the result of an integrity update and integrityupdate is set to true. A delayed shutdown has been queued by Line Blockage and will be executed after the displayed number of seconds.

Note: The Flow Network indicated in the message is the network the pump is on.

Base Message

Alarm & Event

Shutdown: Action Sequence <shutdown sequence name> executed for pump <pump name> in Flow Network <pump flow network> due to a line blockage in Flow Network <line blockage flow network>.

FNET_PUMP_LNBLCK_SHUTDOWN_EXECUTED

An alarm and event that is generated when an unexpected line blockage occurs is detected.

A delay of zero was configured, and the shutdown sequence was executed immediately.

Notes: The line blockage Flow Network indicated in the message is the network the line blockage originated from. This event is also generated when a delayed shutdown has been executed.

Base Message

Alarm & Event

Shutdown: Action Sequence <shutdown sequence name> executed in Flow Network <flow network> due to a line blockage in FlowNetwork <lineblockage flow network>.

FNET_PUMP_LNBLCK_SHUTDOWN_EXECUTED_NODEVICE

An alarm and event that is generated when an unexpected line blockage is detected that is the result of an integrity update and integrityupdate is set to true. A delay of zero was configured, and the shutdown sequence was executed immediately.

Notes: The Flow Network indicated in the message is the network the pump is on. The line blockage Flow Network indicated in the message is the network the line blockage originated from.

This event is also generated when a delayed shutdown has been executed.

Base Message

Alarm & Event

Higher priority shutdown occurred. Action sequence <action sequence name> with remaining delay of <delay> second(s) canceled.

FNET_PUMP_LNBLCK_SHORTER_TIMER

A Line Blockage element attempted to queue a shutdown sequence that was already queued. The new queued shutdown had a shorter delay than the remaining delay on the existing shutdown, so the existing shutdown was canceled and replaced.

Base Message

Alarm & Event

Line Blockage Cleared:Action Sequence <action sequence name> canceled(originally triggered by blockage in Flow Network <triggering flow network name>).

FNET_PUMP_LNBLCK_SHUTDOWN_CANCELED

A line blockage was resolved before the delay on shutdown sequence expired, so the shutdown sequence was canceled.

Base Message

Alarm & Event

Line blockage pump <pump name> moving from state <previous state> to <new state>.

FNET_PUMP_LNBLCK_STATE_CHANGED

Base Message

Alarm & Event

An override was performed for <type> by <username> at <location>

FNET_PUMP_COMMAND_OVERRIDE_EVENT

An event that is generated when a Controller overrides a warning when executing a command on a pump.

N/A

Event

Modified logic state from '{0}' to '{1}'

FNET_PUMP_MODIFIED_LOGIC_STATE

An event generated when pump logic state is modified.

N/A
