This tab is used to enable or disable certain features of the Pipeline Monitor (PLM) processing for the record.

To configure the Inhibits tab

  1. Open the plm record, and click the Inhibits tab. For more information on how to open the plm record, see Opening the Pipeline Monitoring (PLM) Record.

    The Inhibits tab appears.

    Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

  2. To inhibit the plm record, select the Inhibit this PLM system checkbox. When inhibited, the record will not be used in any calculations.

  3. To enable the use of the status or multistate point configured in the Inhibit Path, select the Enable auto inhibit checkbox.

  4. To select the status or multistate point that identifies whether the plm record is inhibited or enabled, in the Inhibit Path field, select (...).

The Output Point Path Selector dialog appears.

    • Select a table and record, and then select Accept.

Note: If the table and record have not been selected, you will receive a warning message. For more information about how to select a pathway, refer to Volume 1 of the RealTime Administrator documentation.

  5. In the Inhibit states field, enter one or more integers separated by commas without spaces. Each integer represents a status or multistate value that, if present, designates the plm record as inhibited.

  6. In the Enable states field, enter one or more integers separated by commas without spaces. Each integer represents a status or multistate value that, if present, designates the plm record as inhibited.

  7. In the Inhibit Alarming on Changes section, you can do the following:

    1. (Optional) To inhibit alarming when this PLM system enters an alarm state, select the To Alarm checkbox.

    2. (Optional) To inhibit alarming when this PLM system enters a suspended state, select the To Suspended checkbox .

    3. (Optional) To inhibit alarming when this PLM system returns to a normal state, select the To Normal checkbox.

  8. In the Inhibit Logging on Changes section, you can do the following:

    1. (Optional) To inhibit logging of an event when this PLM system enters an alarm state, select the To Alarm checkbox.

    2. (Optional) To inhibit logging of an event when this PLM system enters a suspended state, select the To Suspended checkbox.

    3. (Optional) To inhibit logging of an event when this PLM system returns to a normal state, select the To Normal checkbox.

  9. In the Suspension Alarm Timer Delay (9 mins max) field enter the amount of time (in minutes) the system will wait before declaring a suspended state. If the PLM system returns to normal within this time period, the system stays in the current state.

  10. To generate a reminder alarm for the Controller when the plm record is in a stale state and Enable Stale Alarm checkbox is not selected, select the Enable Stale Reminder checkbox. The alarm message generated states Stale record. No other alarms will be issued.

  11. To enable alarming when this PLM system stops calculating or re-starts calculating, select the Enable Stale Alarm checkbox.

  12. In the Stale Timeout (secs) field, enter a stale timeout time in seconds. If any of the PLM data is stale for longer than this timeout period, the plm record will be marked as stale. All the fields related to this stale record will be shown in inverse video in the easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS).

  13. To enable meter extrapolation, select the Meter Extrapolation checkbox. For more information, see Understand meter extrapolation.

  14. To enable debugging messages that appear in the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Error Log to show the extrapolation applied, select the Enable Meter Extrapolation Message checkbox.

  15. To disable deviation alarming if one or more of the linepack segments goes stale, select the Disable PLM due to Linepack Stale checkbox. For meter or tank inputs, if any becomes stale, no alarms will be issued if a balance limit is exceeded. For linepack, this checkbox must be selected if a stale linepack is to disable deviation alarming.

  16. In the Diagnostics Volume Factor field, enter a diagnostics volume factor value. The PLM application calculates an average change across all components within the PLM system (meters, tanks, and linepacks). If the change across a component is greater than the diagnostics volume factor, the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA marks that component by placing a Y in the Leak Risk field of the appropriate summary (PLM Meter Summary, PLM Linefill Summary, or PLM Tank Summary). For more information about the diagnostics volume factor, refer to the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids Controller documentation.

  17. (Optional) To inhibit the invalid volume reading alarm from appearing in the Alarm Summary or the Point Alarm Summary, select the Inhibit Invalid Volume Reading Alarm checkbox.
